We’re thrilled to announce that Theatre 831, the parent company of All About Theatre (AAT), has officially taken over the management of The Colligan Theater in Santa Cruz! After a competitive bidding process, the city chose Theatre 831 to deliver our vision to transform this beloved space into a vibrant hub for the arts.
Under our management, The Colligan Theater will become the home for AAT’s robust lineup of 12+ productions each year. We’re committed to nurturing talent, young and old, and providing them with the opportunity to shine on stage, fostering creativity and confidence in our community’s youth and adults.
But that’s not all! Our vision extends beyond All About Theatre Theatre. We plan to host a diverse range of performances, including theatrical plays, dance, mixed media, and various community events, ensuring that The Colligan Theater serves as an inclusive gathering space for all art lovers in Santa Cruz.
We’d like to take a moment and express our gratitude to all the many people who have got us to this point. Thank you to Julie James, Artistic Director of Jewel Theatre Company, for her endless support and mentorship during this transition process. She and her team have done a lot over the last 8+ years to learn the ropes and systematize this beautiful performance space.
Kathryn Mintz, City of Santa Cruz’s Development Manager did a wonderful job of running the RFP process and communicating within the community to build a collaborate vision. We are honored to have won the privilege of overseeing this amazing community hub and are grateful to all the other applicants who helped form our vision for this theater.

The Theatre 831 board & AAT staff are ecstatic about this new chapter and the chance to bring our artistic endeavors to a dedicated venue. We look forward to collaborating with local artists, schools, and community organizations to enrich our cultural landscape.
